AHVA Bulletin No. 2022-0602
Dear AHV Neighbors,
Below is a message that we have just received from Maynilad.
———————————
“There has been an increase in algae concentrations at Laguna Lake near our Putatan Treatment Plants since May 31, 2022, leading to taste and odor issues in the water supply of some areas in the south. To address this, we are currently adjusting our treatment processes and flushing the network to help reduce the taste and odor.
Meantime, affected customers are advised not to drink the water, but to use it for non-drinking purposes (such as flushing toilets) to avoid wastage.
We may also be constrained to reduce water production, as excessive algae requires additional cleaning and de-clogging of our facilities. To mitigate the impact of this reduced production, we are deploying mobile water tankers to deliver potable water to the areas that will be affected.
We are constantly monitoring the quality of the raw water in Laguna Lake and implementing system adjustments so we can restore normal service at the soonest possible time. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
